Our Founder Shares Her Go-To Morning Routine

Mornings are always pretty hectic for me but I’m a big believer in finding what works for you and sticking to it. It takes a bit of trial and error, but I’ve finally learnt over the years what works and having a routine is definitely the key to most parts of wellbeing. Here is what a typical weekday morning looks like for me as well as some of the mood-boosting products that really help to set me up for a good day…

6:30am

First things first, I’ll never hit the snooze button. Once my alarm has gone off – I’m up. I’ve learnt so much from sleep expert Nick Witton who helped us to create our Perfect Night’s Sleep Plan and one thing which has definitely stuck is the importance of going to bed and getting up at the same time every day. The kids have a school bus to catch at 7:30 so there’s always lots to be done.

One other tip I’ve learnt along the way is to avoid using my phone first thing. Waking up and turning straight to your phone to check emails or aimlessly scroll through social media is something I vow not to do. It sends your nervous system into overdrive seeing potentially stressful emails and let’s be honest, mornings can be manic enough. Committing to tech-free mornings has helped me to be more present and begin the day with a more positive and peaceful state of mind.

7:30am

Every morning I try to do some kind of exercise or movement. If I’ve not managed to get to the gym or do a home workout, I’ll get outside for a walk and listen to a podcast. Right now, my current favourite is The Mel Robbins Podcast. Another great trick I picked up from Nick Witton is the importance of getting morning daylight so this one has definitely stuck as it helps to regulate your circadian rhythm. I always feel like I have a much clearer mind after being outside too.

8:30am

It’s shower time and absolutely no morning shower is complete without our Super Shower Power range. I swear by our Shampoo and Conditioner for keeping my hair looking and feeling it’s best and have found I can extend hair wash day thanks to the natural formulas. Whilst I let the Conditioner work it’s magic, I’ll use the Body Cleanser. The invigorating and uplifting scent of spearmint, eucalyptus and rosemary helps to revive a sleepy mind and give me a burst of much-needed energy. Twice a week I’ll also use our Great Day Body Scrub which, if you’ve not tried it, is incredible at giving you silky smooth skin in seconds. It’s also packed with another scent I love in the mornings – wild mint and mandarin.

Another little shower staple for me at the moment is Biovene’s Scalp Massager. I’ve really been swotting up on the benefits of looking after your scalp and this helps to give your roots a deep clean whilst also stimulating your scalp which is said to help promote growth.

9am

This is usually breakfast time. Nutrition plays such a big role in how we feel and our energy levels throughout the day and since time isn’t usually my friend in the mornings, I’ve been trying to prep mine the night before. I’ll mix oats with a scoop of Supernova Protein, almond milk and chia seeds and pop in the fridge overnight. Not only does it keep me full until lunchtime, but it’s also good knowing I’ve already had a serving of protein without having to whip up eggs every day.

I’ve also been making sure I up my water intake as this is also great for energy levels. I keep my Larq Water Bottle with me at all times and try to drink as much as I can throughout the day.

Another new habit I’ve adopted lately is to keep a diary and to journal. I love Steven Bartlett’s new The Diary. It’s got lots of interactive prompts to keep you focused. I’ve also got the Five Minutes In The Morning: A Focus Journal which is great for framing your thoughts and setting you up for a good day. Both of these together really does help to keep me organised, feeling my best and ensures each day doesn’t run away with me.

9:30am

My working days are super varied, but on days I’m at home, I’ll usually light our Feel Refreshed Candle or pop the Focus The Mind Essential Oil Blend into my Pod. Both scents are incredible at helping me to feel positive and they really motivate me to get through my never-ending to-do list. Lastly, I must give a shout out to our Energising Hand Balm – it’s a real favourite for bringing a small moment of joy whenever you need it most.
